Hartpury College is a further education college and university campus, an associate faculty of the University of the West of England, in Gloucestershire, England. The college is located in the village of Hartpury, approximately 5 miles north of the city of Gloucester.
Hartpury College focuses on agricultural, sports and animal related courses and includes a working farm as well as equestrian and sports facilities. The horticultural facilities include an historic garden designed by Thomas Mawson, a walled garden and an arboretum.
History
Hartpury College was founded in 1947 as the Gloucestershire Farm Institute. In 1993, the Gloucestershire Farm Institute became an independent association, with strong links to UWE, known as Hartpury College. These links eventually saw UWE grant Associate Faculty Status to Hartpury College in 1997.
