How to propose a merger

Proposing a merger can be done in three steps:

Create a place for discussion. Go to the talk page of one of the articles and create a section to discuss the merger. If there's already a discussion on the talk page regarding the merger, you can omit this step. The section name can be anything, for example ==Proposed merger from Page1==.
Put one of the merger tags at the top of the articles you wish to be merged. The templates {{merge}}, {{mergefrom}} and {{mergeto}} are the most common ones. Remember to make sure that the Discuss link in each tag points to the section you've created in step 1 – this is to prevent having two separate discussions on different talk pages.
If the proposed merge is controversial or potentially difficult to carry out, follow the directions under #Requests for assistance and feedback to add it to the list.

Automatically-generated log

For each month, a list of up to 100 requests is generated by a bot. When the merge templates have been removed by the articles in question, they will be taken off the list.

In general, this section should be used to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers that are either tricky or of a controversial nature. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved. Merge List of monarchs by nickname and List of people by nickname. I created the second article not knowing the first one existed. The first article lists only monarchs but non-monarchs and fictional characters have had similar nicknames. Examples include Joe the Plumber, Larry the Cable Guy, Winnie the Pooh, and Jabba the Hutt. The two articles should be merged under a title would accommodate non-monarchs, and fictional characters, (including non humans).--T1980 (talk) 14:50, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Incr Tcl redirect to Itcl, but Incr Tcl have a history that refer to same content, an Itcl should be named Incr Tcl, because the name of software really is (see web site of incr Tcl. Next merge the articles (Note that content of Itcl is more complete). So I am proposing Move Itcl to Incr Tcl, and merge your histories. Shooke (talk) 21:30, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
I am proposing that Ludgate Circus tube station be merged in to City Thameslink railway station, given that the former was/is a proposed station on the site of the existing City Thameslink station, and if it were to ever be built would exist as part of the same station complex. Merge Labour Day (which is %90 a list of May 1 celebrations) with International Workers' Day (which also lists May 1 celebrations. Originally Labour Day included United States Labor Day, but that was split off. International Workers' Day is a split from May 1.
